Centro Diego Fabbri ETS, registered with the RUNTS, carries out cultural activities aimed both at educating audiences and at making artistic languages accessible to a wider public. Its work ranges from the Scuola dello Spettatore programme (meetings, readings, conferences, workshops and more) to the No Limits project. In collaboration with Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna – Forlì Campus, one of the Centre’s founding members, No Limits makes culture more accessible through audio description of theatre performances, films, exhibitions and guided visits for blind, partially sighted and deaf audiences.
As part of this project, the Centre has collaborated with ATER Fondazione, ERT Fondazione, Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo, Plautus Festival, Ravenna Festival, Teatro Nazionale di Genova, Teatro Massimo di Cagliari, Teatro Piccolo di Milano and Bergamo Film Meeting.
The Centre collaborates with the Romagna Local Health Authority’s Department of Mental Health to develop theatre, music and arts programmes for psychiatric patients, including theatre productions involving users of Psychiatric Day Centres.
Over the years, the Centre has also collaborated with the Forlì Campus as part of the Human Rights Nights festival and currently collaborates with the Forlì Translation Festival. It has also developed activities for young people to encourage learning about the various languages of the performing arts as elements of individual and collective growth, through workshops, meetings and conferences held at primary and secondary schools.
The institution promotes new playwriting and translation through its national theatre-writing award and the European Pop Drama project, which involved young university students from across Europe. Under the award, the Centre has created and staged theatre performances, including dramatised readings, with professional actors and directors, as required by the call. It has also taken part in European activities focused on cultural dissemination, social integration and the education of younger generations: EUROPOLY (young people and European identity), CASTLE (training in audio description and surtitling), KEEP IN MIND (young people and culture), I CAN VOLUNTEER (young people and volunteering in social and cultural settings) and INCLUSIVE THEATRE (cultural accessibility).
As part of its European project work, Centro Diego Fabbri ETS led a two-year Erasmus+ KA220 Cooperation Partnership in Adult Education project, “Dream Theatre: Social Inclusion and New Learning Opportunities in Drama Therapy”. The project offered training for actors, directors, cultural and healthcare workers from five European countries, with the aim of promoting theatre as a tool for supporting mental health.
During 2024 and 2025, Centro Diego Fabbri ETS collaborated with GAER (Young Artists Emilia-Romagna) and the Municipality of Forlì – Youth Policies on the regional project “Costellazione: giovani connessioni creative”, a creative training programme for artists and creatives across disciplines to support young people’s creativity and cultural entrepreneurship. The 2025 edition also included the cultural event and festival “Distorsioni – L’arte del mutamento”, held at Fabbrica delle Candele. Young people involved in the programme organised meetings, interactive concerts, readings, installations, body art and a photography exhibition.
The Centre’s work has also included meetings, conferences and study events on the work, ideas and teaching of its namesake.
The Centre has also hosted theatre and music programmes that highlight different artistic languages and the area’s cultural heritage, including the Cam(m)inate alla Rocca series and events accompanying major exhibitions at the San Domenico Museum, in collaboration with the Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì Foundation.
As part of its work to educate audiences, the Centre runs theatre, music and staged-reading activities in primary and secondary schools in the area.
